Teacher of the Year finalist, Mr. Posey, is featured in today's Griffin Daily News. Read the complete story here.

New School Calendars Proposed

The Griffin-Spalding County BOE has released three calendar proposals for the next school year.

Version 1 begins school on August 1 and ends on May 25.
Version 2 begins school on August 8 and ends on June 1.
Version 3 begins school on August 15 and ends on May 25.

You will need to look at all three to see how the breaks during the year fall, but, obviously, the last choice has fewer breaks.

Everyone needs to visit the calendar choices and vote here on which one you prefer. Voting ends on September 21.

Mr. Steven Posey, System Finalist

Mr. Steven Posey, System Finalist
by Sean Nations

Mr. Posey began his teaching career at Kennedy Road Middle five years ago and has since been a teacher of 6th grade social studies. He is a good teacher. He is smarter. And he is the funnest teacher to work with at school.

At last night's school board meeting, Tuesday, September 7, Mr. Posey, who is Kennedy Road's teacher of the year, was selected out of 18 teachers to be one of three finalists for the system's teacher of the year.

I recently had a chance to ask him about his recognition.

How did you feel when you won?
I was honored to win for the school, but I felt nervous at the same time.

How would you feel to win for the county?
I would like to win and represent our county at the state level. It would be an honor to be the Spalding County Teacher of the Year .
